What is Venetian Plaster?

Venetian plaster is the ultimate bespoke wall surfacing product.
It is a lime based product dating back to being used extensively in the 1500s by Venetian architects in a city built on watery foundations. It consists of marble dust and powdered lime to create finishes that traditionally mimic the look of natural stones, such as marble, travertine or limestone, without the weight. The lime and marble are ground to the fineness of powder, so that the plaster can be applied in layers as thin as paint.
More often nowadays, there’s a growing design request to blur the architectural line by bringing the outdoors, in. And lime plaster is literally the earth on your walls.
As technology has advanced, it can also be tinted or coloured to achieve an effect that can’t be created naturally, giving great versatility in design options. It is one of the few finishes that can seamlessly flow within design styles. It can be smooth or textured and the final shininess of the finish can be manipulated by the materials used and the way of application.
